James Merrill McGrath

Born December 22, 1913 at the Merrill and Ring logging camp at Pysht, Olympic Peninsula, Washington State.

Educated at Santa Barbara College, California Polytechnic with graduate work at Claremont College majoring in Heating, ventilation and Air-conditioning Engineering.

After joining the US Navy in 1940 he obtained the rank of Officer Junior Grade and rose to the position of Superintendent of Machinery, US Naval Yard, Manila, The Philippians - Senior Engineering Officer US Navy.

After the war and his years as prisoner of war he became a professor teaching at Calpoly Technical until his retirement after 28 years.

He passed away at his home in Morrow Bay, California in 1982.
